Starting the Sierra, Mt. Whitney, and Forester Pass: Mile 700-780

Heading out of Kennedy Meadows

Part of Almost Awesome's morning routine is jabbing a needle through her ever-evolving blisters.  How do you start your day?'

Possum doing a little cleanup at Chicken Spring Lake.

Sunrise in the Sierra

Almost Awesome in one of the MANY meadows that we passed through.

Almost Awesome working on dinner at our camp at Guitar Lake at the base of Mt. Whitney.  The Mt. Whitney summit, at 14,505 ft, is a side trip and isn't on the PCT but it is part of the John Muir Trail which is simply beautiful.

The Pile of Dudes and our friends Grams and Potluck showed up at Guitar Lake and we swapped stories and chased VERY curious marmots away from our gear.

Heading up Mt. Whitney in the morning with a view of Hitchcock Lake and Guitar Lake

Grams on top of Mt. Whitney

Almost Awesome and Possum on top of Mt. Whitney.  It was REALLY beautiful and the view was incredible!

This almost looks like she is in front of a green screen.

Heading back down Whitney and in this picture you can see why it is called Guitar Lake

Are we still on Earth?  This is amazing!

On our way to Forester Pass which is the highest point on the PCT at 13,153 ft.

The chute, which is typically covered in ice, was free so the fear factor was definitely down a little.

Our friends Dr. Jay and Sara

Almost Awesome, Blue Skies, and Wall-E coming down the north side of Forester.  The line in the snow coming down from the pass is where some tough-keestered people glissaded down.

The snow was at the perfect consistency where we could foot-ski down part of the trail.
