Hiker Heaven in Agua Dulce aka The Saufley's

We got to stay at the Saufley's Hiker Heaven to get a little rest but mainly to get our resupply ready for the Sierra's.  We had an AMAZING time here and they had their hiker hostel running like a well oiled machine.  The energy here was great and there was plenty of volunteers to drive us to outfitters and to grocery stores in cities nearby.  We can't say enough good things about Jeff and Donna Saufley and the people helping at Hiker Heaven.

The MANY tents, trailers, and bunks for all the dirty hikers.  There were probably 50 hikers staying while we were here.

Inside the Hiker Trailer we have Red Bandit and Camelita snoozing on the couch.  We made breakfast here while about 10 hikers watched Pulp Fiction at 7:30 in the morning.  That is a scenario that I doubt will ever be duplicated.

Almost Awesome making sure that we have are Sierra resupply ready to ship to Kennedy Meadows.  Most people hike for 5 days and then get out of the Sierras to resupply but we wanted to see if we could hike 11 days straight with no resupply.  This could be really cool and challenging or a dumb move.   We shall see!  Let's just say that "healthy" choices were not on the agenda for this trip. If we had to carry 11 days of food then it had to be light and full of calories.  We have to admit that when we walked out of the grocery store with cardboard flats of iced honey-buns and ramen noodles we felt fairly low as human beings.

The wonderful Donna Saufley
