We didn't realize that there was so much wind farming in Southern California but it was pretty cool to see. The PCT passes through quite a few of these farms. It is interesting until the newness quickly wears off and being pummeled by wind for days on end takes its toll on your sanity!
At one time this cart was out here for a reason!
Even the sun gets blown around out here. This pic was taken at 12 pm...... or early morning, I'm not sure. It was REALLY windy!
As we were coming out of the mountains one morning to a road crossing we spotted a dark trailer in a trailhead parking lot. As we got closer we saw Johnny Rocket sitting at a table near the wonderfully painted camper and he was emphatically waving us over. As we approached, a man emerged from the camper that was emblazoned with the title " Imagine Chillin' ". He introduced himself as Jerry Can and asked if we would like a cappuccino..... Uuugghhh yeah! We sat down and his wife, Chef, popped her head out and asked if we wanted some oatmeal..... Uuuugghhh yeah! She turned out to be a gourmet, resort style chef and she showed us her AMAZING food creations/sculptures/artwork book as we chowed down on fancy oatmeal and cappuccinos. She then asked if we wanted to hear her play the flute..... uuugggghhh yeah! She whips out this wooden tribal flute, mic, and amp and proceeds to completely blow our minds with a session. She even started drifting into some jazz at the end. It was one of the most surreal things that I had ever seen. If you took this picture and made the windmill blades all melting then you would totally have a Salvador Dali painting! They are known as "The Pop-Up Trail Angels" that just show up at random road crossings and bring smiles to hikers' faces.
Chef
Jerry Can --" Would you like a cappuccino?" Those are beautiful words my friend.
